Before writing about Disney...

A monster post about our trip to Disney World is in the works, but I feel the need to get something off my chest first...

I don't know when most couples discuss what they want to happen at the end of their life. Surely it isn't on a first date. I have to assume most people have something figured out before they arrive at their deathbed.

Amanda and I had that conversation this weekend. We spoke pointedly about the issues of resuscitation and my remains.

Before ALS, the thought of those issues hadn't really crossed my mind. Before ALS.

In a nutshell, I told Amanda that I wanted to be recuscitated if I had a fighting chance, but leave me be when the odds are insurmountable. And that I trust her to make that decision.

...back to this Disney post...

  1. Tony, Had been a little while since I'd caught up on your blog, but just spent some time reading back a ways (share your taste in music by the way!) ... I delighted in your good moments (the Scotland trip sounded amazing) and appreciated your candor and insights into the harder times ... Tony, I've admired you from the moment I first met you and how you dealt with my sons as their coach, that admiration grew through the years as you became a friend, and it only continues to grow as I see how you handle the immense challenge you face now ... thank you for your postings, they are full of lessons about life for all of us ...

  2. That could not have been an easy discussion, and I admire you both for facing the hard truths and decisions head on.
