Unusual Friday Night

The past few weeks have been hectic. I celebrated my 35th birthday with my family. The VMI soccer season is in full swing. Cora is excited about kindergarten. Louise seems to be increasing her vocabulary exponentially. Dear friends welcomed a healthy baby boy. Dear friends welcomed a healthy baby girl. I've been working on my writing project, a pALS guide to ALS. I had a clinic visit at Johns Hopkins.

Amanda and I took delivery of a powered wheelchair...and that was a surreal moment.

Then Amanda and I were approached by the lacrosse coaches from VMI and W&L, the two local universities. Coach Anken, from VMI, and Coach McCabe, from
W&L, met us for lunch, and explained that they wanted to use the annual in-town rivalry game, the Lee-Jackson Classic, to raise awareness about ALS.

Given my ties to both schools, it's a particularly thoughtful gesture. I'm sure it will be an exciting and emotional time.

The game starts at 7:30 tonight. I plan on being there and hope to see you too!

Daily life continues. Here's Louise insisting that I don't ruin her favorite song by bobbing my head along to the music:
